John Miller is the Artistic Producer of The Stratford Summer Music Festival.

John is one of Canada’s most respected cultural administrators. His background includes being the National Director of The Canadian Music Centre and Executive Director of the Glenn Gould Foundation.

2015 marks the fifteenth season of Stratford Summer Music.

The respected British music journal, Gramophone, named Stratford Summer Music one of the top festivals on the continent and the only Canadian festival to make the distinguished designation of being in its top twelve summer music sites.

We discuss John’s background with the Salvation Army, his career as a cultural administrator and the upcoming season at The Stratford Summer Music Festival.

Rick Miller: Playwright, Actor

Rick Miller interview, podcast, Boom, Machomer,, twenty thousand leagues under teh sea Rick Miller is an actor, voice actor, comedian and playwright. Rick has performed in five languages on five continents and Entertainment Weekly has called him “one of the 100 most creative people alive today”.

Rick and I met at a pastry shop around the corner from his home in Toronto.

We talk about his path from studying architecture to writing, directing and performing in theatrical productions around the world.

Recently Rick appeared in the critically acclaimed “Venus in Fur,” at The Canadian Stage and the Centaur Theatre, but it was the first time in ages that he had to audition for part, and he talks about overcoming his struggle to become the play’s bloodthirsty tyrant.

“Boom” is Rick’s latest production and we discuss the Stratford Festival’s role in launching the project and what Rick did when they decided to abandon it.

Bethany Kovarik: Dancer

Bethany Kovarik, Dancer, Dance Canada tour, crazy for you, ensemble swing Bethany Kovarik began dancing at the age of three. At the age of twelve she was travelling to New York City, and later Los Angeles, on dance scholarships.

Currently, Bethany is the ensemble swing in the Stratford Festival production of “Crazy For You.” As a swing, Bethany fills in anytime an ensemble member can’t perform. We discuss what it feels like to be prepared to perform every night, but rarely getting the chance.

Bethany also opens up about her teenage years and the rigorous world of dance competitions.

In 2010 Bethany graduated from Sheridan College’s three-year, music performance program.

Since then she’s been dancing on stages across Canada, including including Toronto’s Young People’s Theatre, London’s Grand Theatre, Calgary’s Stage West and several Drayton Entertainment productions.

Bethany Kovarik is a coordinator of the Dance Canada competition and pageant. She is also passionate about inspiring and educating others, especially young dancers, to live their highest and best self.
